At least three law enforcement officers were shot during an active incident in Tremonton, Utah, on the evening of Sunday, August 17, 2025. Officers were responding to a disturbance when gunfire broke out. Officials confirmed at least three officers were struck but have not released details on the severity of their injuries.

Response near David Drive and 300 East

The shooting took place near David Drive and 300 East. Emergency radio traffic captured during the incident included officers reporting, “Shots fired! I’ve been hit!” and “Still shooting!” Witnesses said they saw a large law enforcement response converge on the area.

Suspect in custody; public no longer at risk

Authorities confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody following the exchange of gunfire. Officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public. A temporary shelter-in-place order was issued for nearby residents during the height of the incident.

Mayor’s deleted statement referencing fallen officers

Tremonton Mayor Lyle Homgren initially posted a statement on the city’s official social media page that referenced “fallen officers” and a wounded deputy. The post was later deleted.

"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers and pray for the quick recovery of the wounded deputy. We mourn with their loved ones, their fellow officers, and the entire community that feels this loss so profoundly," Homgren wrote.

As of August 18, 2025, law enforcement agencies have not confirmed any officer fatalities.

Investigation ongoing

Officials have not released the identities of the officers or the suspect involved. The investigation remains active, and authorities said additional details will be provided as they are confirmed.
