Police have detained a 69-year-old gunman who opened fire in central Paris, killing at least three people. The motive behind the attack is not clear yet.

Police have detained a suspect, who is 69 years old, in connection with the shooting.
The suspect was detained without any resistance. Reportedly, the police have also recovered the weapon which was used in the attack. Prosecutors said that they had opened an investigation into the incident. However, the motive behind the shooting has not been ascertained yet.
After the attack, the authorities asked the public to avoid the area in Rue d'Enghien in Strasbourg-Saint Denis' 10th district.
According to a witness, she heard seven or eight bursts of gunfire.
Another witness stated that they were waiting to be able to leave as the street close to the Château d'Eau metro station was full of emergency services. One of the shopkeepers stated that they had locked themselves in as there was a "total panic."
Notably, the street affected by the attack has several shops and restaurants. Besides, it has a cultural centre. According to Alexandra Cordebard, the local mayor, the suspect was also wounded in the shooting, and three places had come under fire.
