In a shocking incident in New Mexico, a teenage boy was arrested for allegedly killing his entire family. Police say the boy confessed to the crime while under the influence of alcohol.

What Happened

Diego Leyva, 16, reportedly called 911 in the early hours of Saturday morning. According to police, he confessed to killing his parents and teenage siblings in their home in Belen, New Mexico. When deputies arrived at the scene, Leyva walked out of the house with his hands raised. Authorities stated he was intoxicated but cooperative during his arrest.

Police discovered the bodies of the suspect’s father, 42-year-old Leonardo Leyva, his mother, 35-year-old Adriana Bencomo, his sister, 16-year-old Adrian Leyva, and his brother, 14-year-old Alexander Leyva. All had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. A handgun was recovered from the kitchen table.

Suspect Detained

After his arrest, Leyva was taken to a local hospital for detoxification. He was later transferred to a juvenile detention center in Albuquerque, where he is being held on first-degree murder charges.
