Democrat presumptive candidate Kamala Harris has again taken a lead over Republican candidate Donald Trump in an opinion poll. In the latest survey held on August 12, 2024, she has a 2.4-point lead over Trump in the latest average of national polls, collated by 'FiveThirtyEight', reports 'The Independent'. In the survey, 'Morning Consult' contacted 11,778 registered voters and it found a 3-point lead for Harris. Harris has not trailed behind Trump in any of the opinion polls held since she chose Tuim Walz as her running mate for the US Presidential Election 2024. Though Trump's campaign is trying to paint the results of these surveys as a "honeymoon period", Kamala Harris has taken a lead over Trump in almost all the polls held after President Joe Biden stepped aside and endorsed her for the top position.

Battleground states still uncertain

According to the news outlet, the situation is more ambiguous and volatile and voters don’t seem to have made up their minds in the seven battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

New York Times/Siena College Poll: Harris leads

In the opinion poll held by New York Times/Siena College, Kamala Harris is ahead of Donald Trump with a four-point lead in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

YouGov/CBS: Deadlock

In a survey held on August 2 by YouGov/CBS, neither Trump nor Harris was seen with a significant lead in any of the battleground states, and the two candidates were found in an overall deadlock. The Republican candidate has a three-point lead over Harris in the YouGov polls conducted in the states of Georgia and North Carolina,

'The Independent' has also reported that though the Democrat contender has made significant headway in both national and battleground polls, she faces the challenge of a “personality gap.” It has also been reported that Trump enjoys the support of male white voters with no college education in the age bracket of 45-64 years. But the former president appears to have lost some of his leverage over Harris when compared to Joe Biden.
