The state of Texas has recently announced that it will genuinely help the upcoming Donald Trump administration by offering a significant site to set up detention facilities where the immigrants will be housed before mass deportations.

Texas has recently acquired a 1,402-acre ranch in Starr County, which it plans to use as a site for detention facilities to assist the US President- elect Donald Trump administration's proposed mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, reported Dallas Morning News. The land was purchased for near about $3.82 million after the previous owner refused to allow the state to build a border wall on it.

According to Dallas Morning News, the Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham expressed her agency's readiness to support federal efforts while stating that they are looking for additional land to facilitate this initiative.

The effort is being named as the Jocelyn Initiative which honors a young girl tragically killed by undocumented immigrants, asserted Dallas Morning News. Dawn Buckingham emphasized on the fact that her agency is committed to ensure that Texas remains a ‘beacon of hope, justice and dignity’.

The ranch will be eventually utilized as a part of Operation Lone Star, which is Governor Greg Abbott's ongoing immigration enforcement strategy, noted Dallas Morning News. Tom Homan, Donald Trump's appointed border czar recently confirmed that the ranch would be used for detention facilities, although details regarding whether these would be temporary or permanent remains pretty unclear.
