The US government has decided to revoke all visas for South Sudanese nationals. This decision was made following a diplomatic issue between the two countries related to the repatriation of a South Sudanese citizen.

Visa Restrictions

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau announced that the US is canceling all existing visas issued to South Sudanese nationals. No new visas will be processed. All appointments related to visa services have been cancelled. The decision is already in effect.

Landau said that the action was taken after the South Sudanese government refused to accept one of its citizens. That person had already been certified by the South Sudanese Embassy in Washington. The US had arranged for their return, but South Sudan did not cooperate.
