Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes faces hurdle in bid for new trial, may spend up to 20 years in jail
Elizabeth Holmes, implicated in a fraud and conspiracy case, has requested a new trial. However, the stern testimony of a critical witness has created obstacles in her path to the new trial.

A key witness in one of her requests for a new trial said on Monday that he stood by his words in his testimony in January that helped the Theranos founder be found guilty of fraud and conspiracy.
The former lab director at Theranos, Adam Rosendorff, claimed he testified accurately and honestly during an evidentiary hearing in San Jose, California.
Since Rosendorff allegedly visited Holmes' home in August and purportedly expressed regret about what he had stated on the witness stand during her trial, the integrity of his evidence has come under scrutiny in recent weeks. At the house, Rosendorff allegedly conversed with Holmes' partner, Billy Evans.
Elizabeth Holmes had asked for a renewed trial, and a minor victory for Elizabeth Holmes came when the judge in her case allowed a preliminary hearing to investigate whether there was any misconduct relating to Rosendorff's testimony.
For each count on which she is found guilty, Elizabeth Holmes may spend up to 20 years in jail, according to reports.
Elizabeth Holmes' sentencing, planned for Monday, was postponed so that Rosendorff could speak in its place. The current date is November 18.
