'The Weeknd' calls off LA concert after a 15-minute performance. Here's why

Canadian singer The Weeknd had to cancel his concert in Los Angeles scheduled on Saturday abruptly. Per media reports, The Weeknd faced an unexpected vocal issue that caused him to suddenly lose his voice while performing at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California.

The Weeknd was just two songs in the SoFi Stadium when he had to cancel the performance.

The singer apologized to the fans on stage and informed them about the situation. In a video circulating on the internet from the concert, One Right Now can hear the artist saying sorry and that he would ensure that everybody present got their back.


Though the highly anticipated concert got canceled, the Grammy Award winner’s fans remained in high spirits while leaving the arena. The singer could only perform for 15 minutes before calling off the show.




After the event, The Weeknd tweeted that his voice went out during the first song, leaving him devastated. He apologized to his fans at the event and said he would make up for the canceled show with a new date. Per reports, Saturday’s concert was a part of The Weeknd’s ongoing After Hours Til Dawn tour, which began in July.

The concert was postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 restriction before being finally kicked off from Philadelphia.

The Weeknd has received much praise for his live performance, with critic Melissa Ruggieri calling it 'a rave before the apocalypse.' However, the abrupt ending at Inglewood will surely hurt the singer significantly. The Weeknd is scheduled to perform next at the Rogers Centre, Toronto, on September 22 and 23.

The Canadian singer’s last album, Dawn FM, was released in January 2022. The album has reached the No.2 pot on the US Billboard 200, and four songs from the album stormed the Billboard Hot 100 Singles.
