'The Watcher' season 2 officially announced by Netflix

Ian Brennan and Ryan Murphy created “The Watcher”, a Netflix original thriller/mystery. Some of the events in The Watcher are based on "The Cut," a story by Reeves Wiedeman set in New York.

The debut of Ryan Murphy's newest series, The Watcher, brings his total number of original productions for Netflix to 12. This is the sixth series he developed.

The first week of the series release on Netflix was watched for more than 125 million hours, which is an excellent start for the streaming service. The second week of the series had more than 148 million hours of viewing time, which is a 19 per cent increase over the first week's total. Despite this, the time people spent watching the program has dropped by 54 per cent in only one week, coming in at 67 million hours.


Overall, more than 340 million hours of the series have been seen. Considering that Dahmer, the second recently released Ryan Murphy, has already racked up over 934 million hours, dwarfing The Watcher's total by around 600 million, comparisons between the two shows' respective viewership seem unavoidable.



Murphy is in the last year of his gigantic $300 million mega-deal with Netflix, working on many company projects, including three television programs and a movie.
