According to a 'Collider' report, Dwayne Johnson will be playing the role of former UFC champion Mark Kerr in the Benny Safdie film by A24. Mark Kerr, played by The Rock, will be the centerpiece of 'The Smashing Machine', a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion along with being a former wrestler and a martial arts expert.

The film, with 'The Rock' at the wheel, was announced in February this year by A24 and is a solo directorial debut for Benny Safdie. Safdie is also an actor who has been cast in many projects including Oppenheimer, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and most recently, 'The Curse'. This is not the first time Safdie has worked with A24 as he has also written a crime thriller for the company named Uncut Gems, released back in 2019.
