Netflix confirmed in November 2023 that "The Sandman" season 2 is in the works. Mason Alexander Park, one of the actors, shared updates on the season, stating that filming was scheduled to begin in the summer. However, production faced setbacks.

Production for season 2 commenced on June 26, 2023, at Shepperton Studios, as revealed by writer/producer Barry Waldo in a now-deleted tweet. Despite this confirmation, additional evidence emerged, including location shoots at Durdle Door in Dorset, England, and related images and videos that bolstered the claim that production was underway. While more glimpses from the set indicated active filming, an actors' strike in July 2023 brought it to a halt.

On July 14, 2023, Neil Gaiman, the creator of "The Sandman," confirmed the production shutdown due to the strike on BlueSky, a social network platform. The strike affected "Sandman" and other projects lacking writers.

As of now, Netflix has not announced the release date for "The Sandman" season 2. With filming paused, it is unlikely to premiere in 2023. The earliest possible release could be in the first half of 2025, depending on how Netflix decides to release the upcoming episodes.
