The Pokémon Company's upcoming Pokémon anime series: Ash and Pikachu will not be main characters

Ash and Pikachu will not be the main characters in The Pokémon Company's upcoming Pokémon anime series. This will happen for the first time in 25 years.

Instead, the new show, which follows Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series and debuts in 2023, will have two heroes named Liko and Roy, in the Japanese version. The three Paldea starter Pokémon Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly are also expected to be prominently shown.

The beloved hero has solidified his position as the best Pokemon trainer in the world by winning the Pokémon World Coronation Series Masters Eight Tournament and eliminating all of his rivals.


Ash and Go's voyage together will wind up Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series in Japan, but we're also going to get a bunch of extra episodes to celebrate Ash and Pikachu's 25 years of adventures.

Although the official release refers to this as the "last chapter" for Ash and Pikachu, it also states that these episodes will "give a peek at what the future may hold" for Ash.



It will undoubtedly be a difficult departure for those of us, who experienced childhood with Ash and Pikachu, especially given the planned commemorative farewell.

Although we don't yet know what those special episodes will cover, it appears likely that Dawn, Misty, Brock, Serena, Pokémon like Greninja, Charizard, Lucario, and many others, will make appearances. In the year of our Lord Arceus 2023, many fans would probably shed some tears when Ash and his pals say goodbye.
