The Neighbourhood fires drummer Brandon Fried after groping allegation by Maria Zardoya

In her statement on Instagram, Maria Zardoya said that Brandon Fried groped her under the table at a bar on Saturday and said it was the most uncomfortable thing she had ever experienced. The Marias’ lead vocalist tagged The Neighbourhood and said they needed a new drummer as Brandon Fried, the “complete creep” invaded her space, privacy, and body.

Following the allegations, the rock band announced that it had fired Brandon Fried. The Neighbourhood responded that they had zero tolerance for inappropriate behaviour towards women. The band said they were grateful to Maria Zardoya for coming forward and announced that Brandon would no longer be a member of the band.



Brandon Fried issued an apology and blamed alcohol and substance abuse for his “inexcusable and intolerable” behaviour. He said he was already seeking help for his alcohol and substance abuse issues.

Brandon Fried also apologized to Maria and wrote that his actions on Saturday night were not a true reflection of himself but of a person under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
