Despite The Mandalorian providing numerous heartwarming moments featuring Grogu in season 3, the initial episode "The Apostate" has neglected his character development. Season 2's finale left Grogu departing from his adoptive father to train with Luke Skywalker, leaving viewers on an emotional edge. However, the first episode of season 3 appears to disregard this significant event entirely.

Those who have watched The Book of Boba Fett would know that Grogu abandoned his Jedi training to travel across the galaxy with his father figure. Unfortunately, those, who haven't watched the spinoff series, are left bewildered, unsure of how the two characters were reunited.

The Mandalorian's season 3 premiere failed to acknowledge a significant emotional moment for its beloved character, Grogu. In the season 2 finale, Grogu left his adoptive father, Din Djarin, to train with Luke Skywalker, a moment that left fans emotionally invested. However, in the first episode of season 3, this turning point in Grogu's journey is ignored, leaving fans confused and disappointed.

This exclusion assumes that every viewer has watched and remembers what happened in The Book of Boba Fett, the spinoff series that explains Grogu's decision to abandon his Jedi training and return to Djarin. Forcing viewers to watch a different and, according to some, subpar show to understand the main series is a big ask, especially for casual fans, who just want to enjoy their favorite character's adventures.

The Mandalorian show introduced characters from other TV series, but it wasn't necessary to watch those shows to understand their roles. Everything viewers needed to know about these characters in relation to The Mandalorian was explained within the show. The deeper lore and easter eggs were bonuses for those who wanted to engage with them.

While interconnected universes are becoming increasingly popular, this exclusion of Grogu's decision discount's its importance in his journey. It confuses fans who expected to see Grogu doing cool Jedi stuff with Luke, and it ignores the character development that made fans fall in love with the series in the first place.
