The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is here! Check out the first review of the series
Amazon Prime Video’s much-awaited The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series is starting soon. Meanwhile, the first reviews are positive, with fans stating that the series would deliver a power-packed version of the Middle-Earth. Read on to ...

The trailer shows a montage of the different parties involved in their fight against the deadly Sauron. One of the familiar aspects is Khazad-dum, the stronghold of the dwarfs. The Khazad-dum shown in the series is not a ruin but a busy kingdom complete with lush greenery, a giant mirror reflecting the depths, and busy dwarfs going about their business.
Though familiar, the dwarf territory, like other territories featured in the series, is a freshened-up version of Middle Earth that would appeal to loyal fans and newbies alike.
What is the premise of the series?
The Rings of Power is set in the Second Age of the Middle-Earth. It is thousand years before the Lord of the Rings. The story revolves around the creation of the nine rings and Sauron’s evil villainy before he was slain.
Elves Galadriel and Elrond return to the series with other fresh characters, including dwarves, elves, men, and Hobbit ancestors Harfoots.
Does the series match the movie’s grandeur?
Though captured in a series, The Rings of Power retains the visual treats of the original trilogy. The trailers show lush, snow-covered mountains, open verdant plains, and beautiful elven architecture. The colour gradients are similar, which makes Rivendell and Lindon seem golden. The world of men, however, looks grey and dull.
The music is suspenseful and ethereal at the same time. The characters are also a breath of fresh air, nuanced with their strengths and weaknesses.
What should fans expect?
Fans can expect a thrilling tale of the Middle-Earth. Spread over five seasons, one theme would continue throughout the series – Sauron’s return. It would be interesting to see how the series manages to capture multiple storylines without losing the core story.
However, whether the series makes its mark like the trilogy or falls flat on its face is yet to be seen.
