Vernon Sanders, Amazon Studios's Head of Television, recently in conversation with Collider, talked about the second season of 'The Ring of Power'. He admitted that the production of the second season started in the month of October 2021. This, therefore, confirms that the second season has been given green light and is a possibility.
‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ was a great triumph for Prime Video as it was its top original programme in every category. The show grabbed more Prime Video members than any prior programme. The series set audience records, with 25 million viewers on the first day and 100 million viewers by the finale.
With a premiere that ranked first on Nielsen's streaming chart and a conclusion that trended in 27 countries on Twitter for 426 hours, it's no surprise that fans are eager for Season 2.
Dates revealed seem to be less specific as Sanders stated that Season 2 will be "more unlikely than likely" to premiere in 2023, implying that audience will have to wait until 2024 to see the latest installment.
With five seasons of ‘The Rings of Power’ planned, Sanders understands the need to stay focused and not get carried away. Having said that, he did affirm that Season 2 will be on Prime Video faster than Season 1.

Sanders added that the studio is dedicated to the concept of the tale and is laying the framework for Season 3. However, they are not making official, premature pronouncements about the same.
The Rings of Power, like any show set in a mythical environment, relies largely on the abilities of innumerable VFX artists to bring the story to life. When asked how the studio was coping with industry-wide VFX challenges, particularly in terms of releasing each season on time, Sanders said: “Yeah, it's a good question. We were incredibly fortunate that Ron Ames [VFX producer] came aboard for the show to help us."
