Disney’s Rob Marshall directed film ‘The Little Mermaid’ is expected to exceed a preview performance of $10 million, reported Deadline citing its sources. If the expected figure surpasses $10.8 million, it will make ‘The Little Mermaid’ the sixth highest preview performance among titles rated as PG and G in the history of motion pictures.

The movie, starring Halle Bailey, was pegged at a $120 million four-day start over the Memorial Day weekend this year. It is to note that preview cash of the movie is made up of Wednesday 6 PM fan screenings at 500 premium screen theaters along with early shows that began at 3 PM.

The preview figure of ‘Little Mermaid’, as per reports, already surpasses Disney’s live action animated film, ‘Aladdin’ which premiered in 2019 Memorial Day weekend. Moreover, Little Mermaid has easily taken over the $2.3 million previews with 8 PM start of 2015 Cinderella. 2015's Cinderella had earned $23 million on the first day with a $67.8 million start.


The live-action remake of Disney’s animated film, ‘The Little Mermaid’ is directed by Rob Marshall and stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, portraying a young mermaid who makes a pact with sea witch Ursula, played by Melissa McCarthy. Ariel’s deal with the evil witch allows the mermaid to experience life on land where she meets Prince Eric, played by Jonah Hauer-King.

Other cast members of ‘The Little Mermaid’ include Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina, Javier Bardem, Jacob Tremblay, Noma Dumezweni and Art Malik.
