Consequently, his allies and donors are upset, his campaign team is frustrated and his closest aides find it difficult to turn the tide in his favor. According to 'The New York Times', at a dinner hosted by Howard Lutnick, the Cantor Fitzgerald Chief Executive at at the Bridgehampton on August 2, the Republican candidate said, “We’ve got to stop the steal,” reviving his false claims about the 2020 election. More than 130 guests present at the dinner were shocked as Trump's advisers had urged him to drop this issue because they wouldn't help him with swing voters.

Donald Trump did not stop here. He once again brought up the issue of the Black identity of Kamala Harris. He dropped this bombshell two days earlier at a gathering of the National Association of Black Journalists and questioned the racial identity of the first black vice president of the country. His advisors asked him not to rake up this issue as it would send wrong signals to voters. But he did not regret it. He reiterated that he was right, though his donors were rattled.
