Freddie Highmore, star of the series "The Good Doctor," expressed deep gratitude for the privilege of playing Dr. Shaun Murphy, considering it an immense privilege and one of the most remarkable and rewarding experiences of his life. He extended appreciation to David, Liz, and Erin, as well as the talented cast, writers, and crew who contributed to the show's success. The seventh and final season is set to debut on February 20.

The current cast, including Chuku Modu, Richard Schiff, Will Yun Lee, Fiona Gubelmann, Christina Chang, Paige Spara, Bria Samoné Henderson, and Noah Galvin, joined in the farewell sentiments. Highmore, portraying the skilled surgeon Dr. Shaun Murphy with autism, has been a central figure in the series.


Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, acknowledged the creative direction of David Shore and Liz Friedman, as well as Freddie Highmore's performance, for captivating audiences and creating a deep connection with Dr. Shaun Murphy and the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital staff. As the series concludes, Erwich expressed gratitude for the incredible cast, crew, and partners at Sony and ABC Signature.

"The Good Doctor," executive produced and co-showrun by Shore and Friedman, has additional executive producers, including Daniel Dae Kim, Erin Gunn, Thomas L. Moran, David Hoselton, Peter Blake, Jessica Grasl, Garrett Lerner, Mike Listo, Highmore, Shawn Williamson, David Kim, and Sebastian Lee. The series, produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature, is the latest to announce its end, following a trend that includes other broadcast shows like "Station 19," "Young Sheldon," "Blue Bloods," "Bob Hearts Abishola," "SWAT," and "La Brea," among others.
