"The Exorcist: Believer" claimed the top spot on the domestic box office charts in the US. The movie, produced by Universal and Blumhouse, garnered $27.2 million from 3,663 theaters in North America during the weekend. While the film's collection fell short of earlier estimates that projected an opening closer to $35 million.

Additionally, "The Exorcist: Believer" made its international debut with $17.8 million, resulting in a global launch of $45.1 million. Given its $30 million production cost, the 'Exorcist' sequel is in a promising position for its theatrical run.

The horror film directed by David Gordon Green is set to hit theaters exactly 50 years after the release of the original "Exorcist," a cinematic landmark that grossed nearly $450 million at the global box office (before adjusting for inflation). Directed by William Friedkin, the original film was adapted from the novel by William Peter Blatty and featured stars like Linda Blair and Ellen Burstyn.

However, "The Believer" recently had to advance its release by one week. This change was prompted by Taylor Swift's announcement that her new concert film, "The Eras Tour," will have a global premiere on October 13. Both films target a similar audience, particularly younger moviegoers and especially young females.

"The Exorcist: Believer," is rated R by the Motion Picture Association for or some violent content, disturbing images, language and sexual references. Running time: 111 minutes. Two stars out of four.
