‘The Couple Next Door’: Channel 4 & Starz Drop Trailer Starring Sam Heughan & Eleanor Tomlinson

“The Couple Next Door,” a hugely anticipated drama series from British production company Channel 4 released the trailer today much to the excitement of the audience who were patiently waiting for the series.

The show consists of acclaimed Hollywood actors including Eleanor Tomlinson (from television series “Poldark”), Alfred Enoch (from the “Harry Potter” movie franchise) who play the characters of “Evie” and “Pete” who are a couple. They are joined on-screen by Sam Heughan (from “Outlander”) and Jessica De Gouw (from “The Secrets She Keeps”) who play another couple “Danny” and “Becka” respectively.

The above list of revered actors are also joined by comedian and now-turned actor Hugh Dennis playing the role of “Alan,” one of the neighbours who is apparently spying on the couples.


The trailer showcases Evie and Pete moving into a new neighbourhood where they meet their neighbours Danny and Becka. Both couples seem to start off their new relationship in a very friendly manner until Evie and Danny seem to start developing feelings for each other. The trailer then goes on to show that both Danny and Evie engage sexually which results in chaos in both households.

Additionally, Dennis’ character “Alan,” was shown to be engaged in voyeuristic activities as he is snooping on both couples from his home with a telescope. However, his direct role in the storyline has not been revealed.

The trailer ends on a very dramatic note as the audience can see Pete holding a gun in the clip like he was looking to shoot somebody, a scene that definitely enthrals the audience.

As per reports, the series is said to be “deliciously dark” and will explore themes surrounding the neurosis of “suburbia” and the negative impacts one might face when they blindly go after their “deepest desires.”

Additionally the show has also been described as something which will hit the audience emotionally and will be “addictive,” in nature.

According to reports, Heughan will soon be moving on from his acclaimed role of “Jamie” in the revered television series “Outlander,” as the show will be ending soon.

He was reported saying that working in “Outlander” was a very “rewarding” experience and a “crazy” journey. He also added that the show was a crucial part of his life and that members of the show became like his “family” and it will feel very “odd” to not see them again.

“The Couple Next Door” will air later this year on Channel 4 in the UK and it will be shown next year on STARZ in the US.
