Who is Ty Warner?
H. Ty Warner, known as Ty Warner, is behind the popular stuffed toy in the US, called the Beanie Babies, which became a global phenomenon. Warner’s company Ty Inc. made over $700 million within the first two years of manufacturing and selling the Beanie Babies.
Ty Warner was also convicted of tax evasion in 2014 for not paying over $5.6 million in federal taxes. The sentence was reduced to two years of probation, community service, and a $53 million fine.
During the court case, it was revealed that Ty Warner had a secret Swiss bank account with over $24 million — at the time the biggest amount ever found in an overseas account.

The Beanie Babies revolution: Why did it end?
The Beanie Babies bubble burst around the same time as the first dot-com bubble burst. Also, Ty, Inc. overproduced some product lines. Once the secondary market crashed via eBay, the demand for Beanie Babies decreased substantially.
Ty Warner continued making money for some time with other product lines and the licensing of Garfield, Hello Kitty, and other animal toys.
The highest-selling Beanie Baby was Princess Bear – the 1997 Ty Beanie Baby "Princess Diana" Bear – at $500,000. It was sold via a secondary market.
