On "The Women Tell All" special episode of The Bachelor, Charity Lawson was ecstatic when she was revealed as the new Bachelorette. She expressed her excitement to the cameras, saying, "I've been waiting forever to find the love of my life, and it's incredible to think that I could meet my person, get engaged, and finally have my happily ever after."

During season 27 of The Bachelor, Zach Shallcross brought Charity to his final four but ultimately decided not to offer her a rose following her hometown visit.

"Women Tell All" was recorded by Warner Bros. On February 24 and when Lawson's "Bachelorette" announcement was made, the set was blacked out, leaving members of the media in attendance unaware of the news.

There was a lot of diversity in the taping of Women Tell All, and the scene with Lawson was the last shot that day. It's typical for "The Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" casting news to leak, so the franchise pulled off a rare feat without a big Lawson leak.

Lawson took part in Shallcross's finale, but was sent home in last night's episode right after Shallcross met his family in the episode "hometown date".

Child and family therapist Lawson, 27, is from Columbus, Georgia. She obtained her master's degree in clinical mental health counselling from Auburn University. ABC's profile defines him as "seeking for a life companion who likes dogs, thrift, and a good tailgate; but most of all, he is honest, sympathetic, and appreciates her for who she is." During this week's edition of Hometown Dating, Lawson's parents—who have been together for more than 47 years—were presented to the audience. Based on this example, Lawson is eager to discover enduring love that equals the love of his parents.

Lawson's casting brings more diversity to the ABC revival show, which has made strides toward greater inclusion over the years following the show's two decades of criticism for its lack of a diverse cast. Although there have been many different couples on the hit series "Bachelor In Paradise," "The Bachelorette" star Rachel Lindsay didn't make history until 2017 when she became the first black female star of the long-running show. Since then, the franchise has had two more black "Bachelorettes" with Tayshia Adams (Season 16, 2020) and then Michelle Young (Season 18, 2021). However, the show only had one black male lead Matt James, who became the first and only black star on "The Bachelor" in season 25. "The Bachelor" premiered in 2002 and is one of the most successful and enduring features on television.

ABC has yet to announce a season premiere for Lawson, but her journey to find love will begin in the summer of 2023.
