Writer-director Kobi Libii in his debut feature film 'The American Society of Magical Negroes' deals with a mysterious group of Black people who possess superpowers. But this film is completely different from 'Black Panther' or Miles Morales’s 'Spider-Man', as the group does not fight criminals or take on villains, they use their powers only to sooth the anxieties of white people. The film is a satire on the white people’s frustrations and Black characters co-exist there only to help the white protagonists.

The two-minute-45-second trailer released on December 15, 2023, introduces the protagonists at a party full of white people. Aren, portrayed by Justice Smith, does not feel comfortable at all, but soon realizes that he will have to join a secret society that uses its mystic powers to make the white people feel comfortable so that the world is safe.

'The American Society of Magical Negroes' is scheduled to be released on March 22, 2024. Earlier, it premiered at the Sundance International Film Festival on January 19, 2024.

'The American Society of Magical Negroes' will be released in theaters across the US, but it is most likely to arrive on Peacock after it finishes its run. 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3' was made available for streaming two months after its theatrical release.
