In October 2021, the series ‘That '90s Show’ was first announced. The original series ‘That '70s Show’ was launched in the summer of 1995, therefore, the reprise or reunion was long overdue.

Danny Masterson, who played one of the major roles of the series, Steven Hyde, will not reprise his role on the new Netflix series. This comes after he was charged in 2020 with forcibly raping three women in separate incidents occurred between 2001 and 2003.
The actor was put on trial the following year after entering a not guilty plea to each of the three accusations in January 2021. According to Deadline and the Associated Press, the rape trial was ruled a mistrial in December 2022 after the jury indicated they were unable to decide on any of the three criminal accusations Masterson faced.
The new series was first announced in October 2021. The reprise or reunion was a long due as the original series premiered during the summer of 1995.
A number of familiar faces from the hit series That '70s Show will be making guest appearances in the upcoming spin-off, That '90s Show. These include Topher Grace as Eric Forman, Mila Kunis as Jackie Burkhart, Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso, Laura Prepon as Donna Pinciotti, and Wilmer Valderrama as Fez. The focus of the show is around the teenage children of the original characters.
