'Texas Ranger' Fame Clarence Gilyard Jr passed away at the age of 66. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas confirmed the news of his demise.

Gilyard Jr had a glorious career of 3 decades and was loved for his role as the naval flight officer Marcus ‘Sundown’ Williams in Top Gun. Since 2016, Gilyard Jr had been working in the UNLV College of Fine Arts as a film and theater professor.
On Gilyard Jr's demise, UNLV film chair Heather Addison said, “Professor Gilyard was a beacon of light and strength for everyone around him.”
“Whenever we asked him how he was, he would cheerfully declare that he was ‘Blessed!’ But we are truly the ones who were blessed to be his colleagues and students for so many years. We love you and will miss you dearly, Professor G," he further added.
During a conversation with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the UNLV College of Fine Arts said, "His generosity of spirit was boundless — he was always ready to contribute to projects and performances however possible."
The dean of the UNLV College of Fine Arts, Nancy Uscher, told the publication "His students were deeply inspired by him, as were all who knew him."
"He had many extraordinary talents and was extremely well-known in the university through his dedication to teaching and his professional accomplishments," she further added.
Between 1989 through 1993, Clarence starred as Conrad McMasters in the popular television series Matlock. He also made an appearance in the 1990s crime drama Texas Ranger.
