There was heavy flooding in central Texas on Friday. The floods happened because of heavy rains overnight which caused the Guadalupe River to rise. An all-girls summer camp called Mystic River Camp in Kerr County got flooded.

Some kids in the camp were evacuated early Friday morning. But some campers are still missing. The camp sent an email on Friday saying that some kids were still unaccounted for and some were already evacuated, as per the report by Hindustan Times.

Officials still looking for missing girls

The camp is staying in contact with the parents of the missing children. According to Kerr County officials, some campers have been located, but others are still unaccounted for. The exact number of missing children is not yet known. They don’t know exactly how many are missing. Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly said, “We can’t say for sure that they’re all accounted for,” as per the reports.

He also said, “We know that there are some missing. We know where some are — they’re stranded.” They are working to confirm the locations of the stranded kids. Camp Mystic sent an email with instructions for parents whose kids are missing, according to the report by Hindustan Times.

Camp shares updates with parents

The camp said, “If your daughter is not accounted for, you have been notified.” They also said, “If you have not been personally contacted, then your daughter is accounted for.” Cypress Lake and Senior Hill camps said that all of their campers are safe and accounted for, as per the reports.

So far, six people have died in the central Texas floods. Clint Morris, spokesperson for the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office, called it “an extremely active scene, countywide.” Locals are told not to travel near the Guadalupe River. People living in low areas have been asked to move to higher ground immediately, as mentioned in the report by Hindustan Times.
