Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Roblox, accusing the gaming giant of prioritizing profits over child safety and 'putting pedophiles before protection' The suit alleges that the platform exposes minors to inappropriate content and predators while misleading parents about its safety measures. Roblox strongly denied the allegations, calling them 'misrepresentations and sensationalized claims'. The company stated that it has extensive safeguards in place, including content moderation and parental controls, to protect young users.

Texas now joins Kentucky and Louisiana in filing lawsuits against Roblox, accusing the platform of causing potential harm to children. The legal battle highlights growing scrutiny over children’s online safety and the responsibilities of major gaming platforms.

Announcing the lawsuit on Thursday, Paxton accused Roblox of falsely promoting itself as a 'safe digital space for children', while claiming that, in reality, the platform has 'become a breeding ground for predators'.

In a scathing reply to Paxton's lawsuit, Roblox stated that it remains 'deeply committed to child safety' and emphasized that its 'policies are intentionally stricter than those on many other platforms'.

"We share Attorney General Paxton’s commitment to keeping kids and teens safe online, which is why we have implemented industry-leading protocols in an effort to protect users and remove bad actors. We are disappointed that, rather than working collaboratively with Roblox on this industry-wide challenge and seeking real solutions, the AG has chosen to file a lawsuit based on misrepresentations and sensationalized claims," Roblox said in a statement, as quoted by fox7austin.com.

"Roblox is deeply committed to child safety. Our policies are purposefully stricter than those found on many other platforms. We prohibit the sharing of images and videos in chat, use filters designed to block the exchange of personal information and our trained teams and automated tools continuously monitor communications to detect and remove harmful content. We have a strong record of working with law enforcement and continue to invest in advanced safety systems to set the gold standard in online safety for the industry.

"We have introduced over 145 safety measures on the platform this year alone, and as a first for the industry, we recently announced that we are working to implement age estimation for all users accessing chat features soon, which will help prevent adults from chatting with minors."

Roblox, a hugely popular gaming platform among children, allows users to play alone or with friends in a wide range of virtual worlds. Marketed as a family-friendly and educational platform, it features games that teach skills such as coding, physics, and problem-solving.

The California-based company also provides developer tools that let users create their own games - though this freedom has occasionally led to the appearance of violent or sexually explicit content.

Additionally, Roblox’s multiplayer and chat features, which enable players to interact with strangers, have drawn criticism for potentially exposing minors to inappropriate or dangerous individuals online, BBC reported.
