Bristol Youth Court has sentenced a 15-year-old boy to 14 months of detention for stabbing his school teacher. He would serve half the sentence in custody and the remainder at home working with the youth offending team. The boy confessed to one count of unlawful and malicious wounding with the intention of causing serious injury. The incident occurred on July 10 when the teenager attacked Maths teacher Jamie Samson at Tewkesbury Academy in Gloucestershire. The teacher was taken to hospital with a single wound.

Teenager pleads guilty

The boy pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a bladed article following the attack. The police told the youth court that the boy put on a snood and a hooded top to cover his face, and had taken a six-inch knife from his home.

Boy calls emergency number

Before attacking the teacher, the school student asked a friend to "wait until period one". Besides, he called emergency services before the strike and told them that a teacher at the school would be stabbed.

The boy's mother told the court that she was sad and that she did not know why the boy was sad. She also said that the boy was not good at expressing his feelings.

Victim says, no ill will

Jamie Samson has been a maths teacher at the school since 2017. He is originally from Newport but lives in Gloucestershire. He told that he held no ill will to the teenage boy. But he said that the teenager must understand the seriousness of the crime.
