'All About Cats' compiled the list after calculating the net worth of the animals using the data from Instagram. In the age of social media, not only influencers but animals can also make money by attracting millions of followers.
While Taylor Swift’s Scottish cat Olivia Benson does not have an Instagram account of its own, the furry companion of the pop singer made money off the star.
Notably, Benson is topped by another cat, known as Nala Cat with an estimated net worth of $100 million. Nala has its own Instagram account and has a verified account with over 4.4 million followers.
The first place in world’s wealthiest pets is taken by a german shepherd dog named Gunther VI. The dog, which holds the title of world’s richest pet in the world with net worth of $500 million, is owned by the Italian media company Gunther Corporation.
How was the list made?
The list, published by All About Cats, was made using Instagram analytics and the possible money that the likes on their posts generate. Taylor Swift had posted an image of her cat Olivia Benson, lying on a couch, in 2020 and it garnered over 2 million likes on singer’s Instagram account.At the fourth place, behind Olivia Benson on the list of world’s wealthiest pets came Oprah Winfrey’s dogs along with those of Sadie, Sunny, Lauren, Layla and Luke with a net worth of $30 million. Pomeranian dog named ‘Jiffpom’ was named at the fifth place with identity of the owner being anonymous with net worth of $25 million.
