Taylor Swift said ‘no’ to Meghan Markle’s podcast invite: Report

Taylor Swift had once declined the invitation to appear on Meghan Markle’s now-canceled podcast, according to a report. It adds that the Duchess of Sussex even wrote to the pop star with the intention of hosting her on the podcast show.

As per a report by the Wall Street Journal, Spotify and Meghan Markle were unable to come to an agreement on launching a second season of their podcast, resulting in a snub.

Markle personally reached out to Taylor Swift, requesting her participation on the podcast, but the singer declined through a representative. The report highlighted the struggles faced by Markle and Prince Harry in successfully producing shows and content for Netflix through their production company, Archewell.


Their Los Angeles-based business has not been successful outside of relying on their own personal stories. One of their projects, "Archetypes," was canceled due to a failure to reach an agreement with the streaming giant. Netflix also reportedly rejected other show ideas, including an animated children's show called "Pearl."

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Netflix does not plan to renew the couple's deal, which was set to run through 2025.

While Harry's memoir and the Netflix documentary about the couple's break-up with the Royal Family were successful, the shows proposed by Harry and Meghan were deemed too similar to existing hits on Netflix and were rejected.
