Taylor Swift: Pop Sensation Is Spotify’s Top Artist of 2023 With 26 Billion Streams

Swifties all across the world are waking up to find Taylor Swift at the top of their Spotify Wrapped lis. The pop star/anti-hero/newly anointed Kansas City Chiefs fan has been named Spotify's most-streamed artist of the year, knocking out Bad Bunny (the most streamed artist for the prior three years), The Weeknd, and Lana Del Rey.

Swift has received a staggering 26.1 billion streams worldwide since January 1. She's also been on several other superlative lists published by the streaming provider.

The singles "Cruel Summer" from her 2019 album "Lover” and "Anti-Hero" from her 2022 album "Midnights” are the sixth and tenth most-streamed tracks.


Meanwhile, these same albums have earned their deserved places on the most-streamed album list, with Midnights arriving in second and Lover coming in eighth.

Swift's record-breaking worldwide Eras Tour, as well as the release of two re-recordings of her earlier records, Speak Now and 1989, which she has lovingly termed "(Taylor's Version)," have likely boosted the sheer volume of streams. Both albums debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.

"I certainly feel more liberated to create now. And I'm making more albums at a faster pace than I ever have before," Swift claimed in a Variety interview last year.

"I believe that the more art you create, the less pressure you put on yourself. It's just a phase I'm going through right now. And everyone is unique. There are folks who release an album every five years and it is fantastic, and that is how they work. And I respect that completely. But I'm happy when I make stuff more frequently."


This isn't the first time the Grammy winner has broken streaming records. Swift became the first female artist to achieve 100 million monthly listeners in August, according to Spotify.
