The fans of Taylor Swift are not happy with Ticketmaster. In November, the American ticket sales and distribution company cancelled the sale of tickets for Swift's upcoming tour Eras due to immense presale demand. A group of Taylor Swift's die-hard fans has now sued the company.
The fans group, in their lawsuit, has alleged Ticketmaster of intentional deception, antitrust violations, and misrepresentation.
They argue that they could not buy the concert tickets, which were snapped up by the computerized bots.
The massive sales of the tickets have also caught the attention of the US Justice Department, which is now investigating whether the ticket distribution company has used its dominance to dispel the rivals and increased prices.
Legislators have also weighed in, with some of the House of Representatives members demanding an explanation from Ticketmaster regarding how its ticketing system works. The company isn't the only big firm that has drawn the government's attention. The Biden administration is also serious about consolidating power in other big industries, including manufacturing, tech, and even book publishing.
Twenty-six plaintiffs have filed the 33-page complaint from 13 US states against Ticketmaster's parent company Live Nation Entertainment. The company says the demand was exponential, which led to the site crash.
