Taylor Swift has made a donation of $1 million to the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee for relief work following devastating tornados in the state on Swift

Community foundation CEO Hal Cato confirmed Swift’s contribution. The organization monetarily supports non-profits that indulge in relief work and rehabilitation following a disaster.

Swift, who was recently named Time magazine’s Person of the Year, shares strong ties to Nashville, where she still resides and has her office.


The singer, as a teenager, attended Hendersonville High School in Sumner County, an area hit hard by storms.

As per the Nashville-based National Weather Service, the tornado traversed an 11-mile path with peak winds of 150 mph.

Cato said that he donation made by the newly-minted billionaire will "support the immediate and long-term recovey needs" in Sumner County and its adjacent areas most affected by the tornados.

This is not the first time, the singer engaged in philanthropy. Swift donated to food banks in every US city she performed at during her Eras Tour this year.

A representative from the Arizona Food Bank Network informed CNN that Swift's contribution enabled the organization to dispatch tractor-trailers carrying 40,000 pounds of fresh produce to its affiliated food banks, while also boosting funding for hunger-fighting programs.

Meanwhile, the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley Food Bank revealed that, during her tour stop in Santa Clara, California, Swift donated enough to "sustain approximately 500,000 individuals monthly in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties."

Swift's generosity also reached her tour team. As the Eras Tour concluded its initial leg in August, the singer generously distributed $55 million in bonuses to her tour family, which included dancers, truck drivers, sound crew, and catering staff.
