Taylor Swift declines King Charles' coronation invitation. Here's why

Pop sensation Taylor Swift made headlines after declining an invitation to perform at King Charles III's coronation in May, as detailed by royal expert Omid Scobie in his book, "Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival."

The 33-year-old singer cited a scheduling conflict with her Eras Tour concert in Nashville on the coronation date, May 6, as the reason for her absence. Interestingly, the book skips over the details of Swift's decision.

Rolling Stone reports that in addition to Taylor Swift, other well-known singers who turned down invitations to perform for the king and his family included Adele, Elton John, Robbie Williams, Harry Styles, and the Spice Girls. Although the other singers never formally responded to the allegations surrounding their denials, an Elton John spokeswoman stated that the 76-year-old singer of "Rocket Man" was unable to accept the royal assignment because of prior commitments.

A magnificent coronation ceremony including performances by British band "Take That," Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Andrea Bocelli was held in the grounds of Windsor Castle, west of London. After his mother, Queen Elizabeth, died in September, 74-year-old King Charles III took the British throne with this event. Notably, while seated on a throne from the fourteenth century in Westminster Abbey in London, Charles became the oldest British king to wear the 360-year-old St. Edward's Crown.

The 75-year-old Camilla, Charles III's second wife, was proclaimed queen during the two-hour event, adding to the historical significance.
