Target reveals exclusive Pokémon 30th anniversary collection : How to buy and what to expect
A new retail collaboration is bringing fresh excitement to fans of Pokémon as Target is set to launch a massive fresh lineup of Pokémon-themed merchandise to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon. The collection includes over 100 exclusive products created in collaboration with The Pokémon Company and is set to release in two phases beginning May 2.

What’s in the collection

The anniversary range covers clothing, accessories, toys, and home items, making it one of the most wide-ranging Pokémon retail launches in recent times. Beyond fashion, the lineup includes a variety of collectibles and lifestyle items too. Some products provide a “gacha-style” experience, where buyers get a surprise Pokémon item rather than choosing a certain character.

The collection also showcases collaborations with nostalgic brands such as Lip Smacker and Caboodles, alongside items such as fragrance mists inspired by Pokémon characters, that includes one theme centered on Jigglypuff.


A few standout pieces are:

  • A retro jacket showcasing Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle
  • A 151-piece puzzle based on the original Kanto region
  • Pokémon-themed water bottles and accessories
  • Butterfly-shaped hair clips inspired by Butterfree
Nearly half of the products are priced below $20, with entry-level items starting at approximately $3.50, making the collection budget-friendly for many shoppers.

Creative vision behind the launch

Amy Sachtleben, senior director of licensing and promotions at The Pokémon Company, described the inspiration behind the collection:

“This collection is designed to bring that sense of fun and adventure into everyday life, with merchandise that appeals to both longtime Trainers as well as those who recently began their Pokémon journey.”

The project also has collaborations with popular Pokémon fans and creators, that includes Joe Jonas, SuperDuperDani, Sydeon, PhillyBeatzU, Stephosaurawr, Aspen, Noah Dankocsik, and Lori Haynes.

Release schedule and how to buy

Target is introducing the collection in two phases to sustain interest and handle demand:

  • Initial release: May 2 in stores, May 3 online (almost 65 items)
  • Follow-up release: June 6 (almost 40 additional items)
The complete collection can already be previewed on Target’s website via a dedicated lookbook, where shoppers can search by item category or Pokémon type.

Given the limited-edition nature of the release, buyers are advised to shop early especially during the first phase as popular items may sell out rapidly. Checking both in-store availability and online restocks can improve the chances of getting the desired products.
