Target settlement 2026

Target settlement check 2026: Retail giant Target is set to distribute automatic payments from a $4.6 million settlement to thousands of its workers following a class-action lawsuit over unpaid wages, as per a report.

Why Target Settled the Class-Action Lawsuit

The legal battle centers on Target’s New Jersey distribution centers, where employees claimed they were not properly compensated for time spent walking before and after shifts, as per The Sun report. Although Target denied any wrongdoing, the company agreed to the settlement to resolve the dispute.

Who Will Receive Payments From Target

About 13,700 hourly, non-exempt employees who worked at the New Jersey distribution centers from August 6, 2019, onward are expected to receive checks. Payments will be calculated on a pro rata basis using Target’s pay records, though individual amounts have not yet been disclosed.

Attorney Charles J. Kocher described the payout as “significant” and said it would provide meaningful relief to impacted staff, as per The Sun report.

How to Receive Your Settlement Check

No action is required for eligible employees to receive a payment, as checks will be sent automatically to those who received a settlement notice and do not exclude themselves. Workers who wish to opt out or object to the settlement have until February 13 to do so. The final approval hearing is scheduled for February 24, after which payments will be issued.
