IS T.J. MAXX CLOSING STORES ACROSS THE US?
It is true that some outlets of T.J. Maxx have been closed in the US by 2026. However, there is a significant point that consumers should be aware of regarding this situation - the store closures are not part of the strategy of downsizing the chain all over the country.
According to Merca2.0, by the end of 2026, the number of outlets opened in the United States reached 1,348, which is 15 more outlets compared to the start of the year.
WHICH T.J. MAXX LOCATIONS HAVE CLOSED IN 2026?
According to the outlet, three T.J. Maxx locations have been closed so far in 2026. Two are in Maryland, while the other is in Massachusetts.
The locations are:

- Cumberland, Maryland: 1262 Vocke Road
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR T.J. MAXX SHOPPERS?
TJX Companies Inc. has thousands of stores in several countries, allowing it to have a significant share in off-price retailing. So the situation in 2026 will not be about T.J. Maxx leaving the traditional retailing but about the transformations that occur in particular stores.
However, for customers the situation will be tangible as they will no longer visit the particular Boston, Silver Spring and Cumberland stores but will go shopping either at other T.J. Maxx stores or online.
