Supermarket chain Iceland to give away £500 this Christmas. Know how to participate

Supermarket chain Iceland will be giving away vouchers worth £5,000 this Christmas. According to media reports, the company announced that 10 lucky winners would receive a £500 voucher each for buying Christmas goodies from Iceland. Reports also confirmed that Iceland has partnered with British rock band Slade’s lead singer Noddy Holder for the festive giveaway.

Iceland released a new Christmas promo featuring Holder, which says ‘It’ssssss Christmas’ with great enthusiasm. Slade released their famous song Merry Xmas Everybody in 1973, which became an instant hit and a regular Christmas feature every year. In fact, the song became such a giant Christmas staple that Holder continues to make about £500,000 per year in royalties from ‘Merry Xmas Everybody.’




The money aside, Holder is strongly attached to the song even after 49 years. According to his wife, Suzan Price, the musician wakes her up every Christmas Day shouting the catchphrase. It’s Christmas. Price said it felt weird that her husband was a big part of everyone’s Christmas festivities, adding that her man had become synonymous with Christmas, like Santa himself.

Taking inspiration from the original song, Noddy Holder, who was the vocalist, dons pyjamas and a paper hat to shout the catchphrase. The supermarket chain shared the video clip on Twitter and “thanked” Holder for being so “patient.” The winners will be chosen through a social media competition, exclusively on Instagram and TikTok.
