New developments have surfaced in the suspicious death of 27-year-old Super Bowl reporter Adan Manzano, with the Kenner Police Department linking a known career criminal to the case. Manzano, a Telemundo Kansas City reporter, was found dead in his hotel room on February 7, 2024, in Kenner, Louisiana, after failing to show up for scheduled work events.

Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley revealed that Danette Colbert, 48, was identified as the woman seen entering and leaving Manzano’s Comfort Suites hotel room before his body was discovered. The culprit, Colbert, who has a previous history of robbing and administering drugs to men, was detained on February 8, 2024; however, it is only reported that he committed property crimes pending the coroner's report.

Footage Raised Security Concerns

Authorities became suspicious when Manzano's wallet went missing despite using it to check into his hotel. Security footage revealed that Colbert entered Manzano's room at 4:30 a.m., left for a short period, returned, and then left finally at 6 a.m. Manzano was never seen to leave the room.

After his sudden death, police discovered that Colbert had used his credit card at several locations in the city, which further intensified the suspicion. Chief Conley said that although an illegal firearm and drugs were found in Colbert's possession at the time of her arrest, the weapon was not linked to Manzano's death, though investigators have not ruled out drugs playing a role.

Tributes Pour In for the Late Reporter

Manzano, a Mexico City native, was known for his extensive sports coverage, particularly in the NFL scene. This was his third time covering the Super Bowl, where he had recently interviewed Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.

His passing follows a personal tragedy—his wife’s death in a car accident last year, which also left their young daughter seriously injured.
