Boston Suffolk Downs is a popular race track that has been hosting live races for at least the last 80 years. Races were held there since its inception in 1935 and the last race held was in 2019. The races finally stopped due to low spectator interest and casinos cropping up all over Boston for quick bets. Suffolk Downs has had its share of glory and the Massachusetts Handicap that was hosted each year, featuring some of the most prominent horses in American history. Superstar horses like Seabiscuit, Cigar, Whirlaway, and Funny Cide ran their races there and won. Suffolk Downs also boasts of hosting the Beatles live in 1966, in the inner field area, with 26,000 fans attending the gig. It was built in 1935 by Joseph Tomasello for 2 million dollars and boasts a 161-acre green top. In 2017 Suffolk Downs was sold to HYM Investment group for redevelopment.
