Nicole is centered a few hundred miles east of the Bahamas and is tracking northwest.

The storm has been designated as subtropical, indicating that it is a hybrid type system with elements of both a tropical and non-tropical storm. Satellite imagery shows that Nicole is beginning to transition into a fully tropical storm.

Nicole has a wide wind field, therefore effects will be felt along a significant portion of the Southeast coast, far from the centre of the storm.
