Stunning photo of Olympic record breaking surfer Gabriel Medina goes viral for all the right reasons
Swimming and water sports events are an insane hit this time at the Paris Olympics 2024 and most importantly so, because of the photogenic vibe of the surfing events, happening under the cool Tahiti climate. Brazil's Gabriel Medina has now emerged as the top sensation of the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 after his image of hovering in the air, with his arm pointed to the sky, broke the Internet, right after he set a new Olympics record in a surfing event.

Netizens claim modified image, but is it?

Although some social media users are claiming that the image in context looks photoshopped and edited to give the hovering effect in the image but according to latest reports, it is definitely not. The image is very nearly perfect and biblical, captured by photographer Jerome Brouillet of AFP. Shooting an image of a fast-moving surfer above giant two-meter waves in Tahiti, is definitely not a very easy deal for any photographer but somehow Jerome turned this into reality and the image became one of the prized moments of this year's Olympics.

Photographer shocked by own capture

According to The Guardian's report, AFP's Brouillet was himself shocked by what he captured, that turned out to be a magical picture of the surfer hovering above the waves. It looked like his subject, Medina, was ascending to a higher dimension and appeared to be suspended from the sky. The surfer's board appeared to follow him a little behind in this insane shot. According to the photographer, it was not very tough to seize this moment inside the lens. One just had to time this moment accurately and anticipate what's coming next, in order to convert it into a perfect shot.
