Stranger Things season 5: Netflix reveals dramatic farewell dates and star-studded return

Hawkins, get ready—Stranger Things is about to flip your world upside down one last time. Netflix has officially unveiled the premiere dates for the highly anticipated fifth and final season of its global sci-fi phenomenon, and the Hawkins faithful are in for a binge-worthy holiday ride.

Announced in spectacular fashion at Netflix’s Tudum 2025 live event on May 31, Stranger Things Season 5 will roll out in three cinematic waves:

• Volume 1 arrives November 26, 2025
  
• Volume 2 drops on Christmas Day
  
• The grand series finale lands on New Year’s Eve

This epic send-off is set to reunite the beloved ensemble cast—including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, and Maya Hawke. New faces will also join the fray, with legendary Linda Hamilton (of Terminator fame), Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux adding fresh intrigue to Hawkins’ final showdown.

At Tudum, stars Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp reminisced about their favorite moments and teased the emotional rollercoaster ahead. Gaten Matarazzo and Millie Bobby Brown, via video, thanked fans for their unwavering support, promising a finale worthy of the show’s legacy.

Production wrapped in late 2024, and co-creator Ross Duffer confirmed that the final chapter will leap forward to the fall of 1987, setting the stage for “one last adventure.” The season’s eight-episode arc concludes with a finale titled “The Rightside Up,” a poetic nod to the series’ very first season.

Maya Hawke captured the cast’s bittersweet mood, telling PEOPLE, “It’s the end of a really long journey… It’s really sentimental.”

While this marks the end of Stranger Things on Netflix, the universe lives on through “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” the hit stage play now on Broadway.
