Strange job: Elon Musk offering $100,000 for this role at Tesla
Elon Musk seems to go above and beyond to enhance the knowledge base for Tesla’s Optimus program. He is looking to hire someone to personate a robot to facilitate his initiative to create humanoids.

The data collection operator position, paying close to $100,000, will improve the body of knowledge for Tesla's Optimus program. Musk said earlier this year that the company intends to use the humanoid robots internally as early as the following year, according to The Mirror UK.
Tesla unveiled Optimus Gen 2 a few months ago, and the company anticipates that these new humanoid robots will be able to replace humans in repetitive tasks. The selected candidate must be able to move about thirty pounds of equipment while on the go for seven hours every day. They will also put on a VR headset and a motion capture suit, which might cause VR sickness symptoms.

Training Optimus' neural network, which will act as its brain, is the role's main goal. By 2026, Musk hopes to boost production and start selling these robots to other companies, as he disclosed last month.
At a 2021 event, Tesla debuted its humanoid robot, which was portrayed by a person dressed in a black helmet and white suit who first mimicked robotic movements before breaking into dance. Since then, Tesla has released more information about Optimus, including a video from the previous year showing the robot carefully handling an egg without breaking it. Musk has previously lauded Optimus' potential, saying that the Optimus stuff is extremely underrated. When Optimus is released, he expects demand to reach 10 to 20 billion units, and he confidently predicts that Optimus will make up a majority of Tesla's long-term value. By the end of the year, he believes, Optimus will be working in actual Tesla factories, as he noted that it is already performing tasks in its lab.

As quoted in Daily Express US, Musk stated that Tesla will have genuinely useful humanoid robots in low production for Tesla's internal use next year and, hopefully, high production for other companies in 2026.
