Stedman Pearson, the eldest of the family quintet British pop band Five Star, has died aged 60.

His family issued a statement saying, "We are very saddened to say on this day - our beloved son / brother Stedman Pearson Jr has passed. Five Star band members

Stedman, from Romford, Essex, was the eldest of five siblings, who were turned into a musical group by their father Buster Pearson, a former recording artist.

The group also included his younger siblings Denice, 56, Lorraine Pearson, 57, Doris Pearson, 58, and Delroy Pearson, 54. Five Star had six songs that reached the Top 10 list in the UK. The band's outfits and synchronised dance routines often drew comparisons to the Jackson 5.

In 2001, the group of five members split briefly, leaving only three members. Stedman, along with his sisters Denis and Lorraine, continued to perform together until 2006.

Five Star enjoyed huge chart success in the '80s. The band released their first album Luxury of Life in 1985, only two years after they formed as a group. The album featured the song System Addict, which became one of their biggest hits, reaching Number 3 on the music charts.

Five Star's second album, Silk & Steel, was released in 1986 and quickly became a huge success, topping the music charts. The album featured popular tracks such as The Slightest Touch and Find the Time. One of their biggest hits, Rain or Shine, also appeared on the album and became their highest-charting single, reaching Number 2 on the charts.

During the ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, the group also performed their hit song Can't Wait Another Minute.

Over the years, the siblings released several more albums and singles. Despite initially parting ways as a group in 1995, they continued to perform together, sometimes as a four-member band. Their continued success and performances show their lasting impact on the music industry.
