One of Hollywood's most successful franchises, Star Wars, has come openly to support Moses Ingram over the issue of racism. Ingram is the new addition to the franchise, and she has played the role of Inquisitor Reva in the recent release and a much-awaited series "Obi-Wan Kenobi." The web series belongs to Disney+, and its first episode aired on May 27, 2022.

Although the web series garnered much praise and appreciation from its fans, the success was marred by the recent events where Moses Ingram faced racial abuse on her debut. Ingram said that she had been receiving several threatening and racial messages since the release of the web series.

She also posted some screenshots of racial and threatening messages through her Instagram handle. While sharing the post, Ingram thanked her supporters and fans for backing her and called all her detractors "weird."

Soon after Ingram shared the instance of racial abuse, the Star Wars franchise backed the actress and tweeted that it felt "proud" that she played the role of Reva in the web series. The official Twitter account of the franchise added that it resists all those people who make Ingram uncomfortable. Besides, it went on to state that the Star Wars galaxy has over 20 Mn sentient species, but one should avoid being racist.

However, this is not the first time that a Star War actor who is a person of colour has received racist comments. Before Ingram, actors Kelly Marie Tran and John Boyega also faced racial abuse after working in the Star Wars franchise. Tran was the first woman of colour to play a role in the Star Wars series. She had starred in "The Last Jedi," released in 2017. Reportedly, Tran had to suspend her social media handles to avoid hate and racial comments.

Boyega had also faced a similar backlash after getting featured in the trailer of "The Force Awakens", a Star Wars movie released in 2014.
