Yashere will be joined by Holly Hunter, who plays the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy. The cast also includes Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, and Zoë Steiner as new cadets. Paul Giamatti will feature as the main villain of the season.

Plot

The official logline describes the show as introducing a young group of cadets who pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the guidance of their instructors, they learn what it takes to become Starfleet officers. Production

Production for the series will begin later this summer. Fans will get their first look at the series during San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.

Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as the co-showrunners and executive producers of "Starfleet Academy." Gaia Violo, who wrote the premiere episode, is also an executive producer.
