"It feels like a failure", said an emotional Leon Draisaitl after his team the Edmonton Oilers was eliminated from the Stanley Cup 2023. The ice hockey centre was expecting to take home the Stanley Cup. Sadly, his team went down in the game on Sunday, May 14, when the Edmonton Oilers were defeated 2-5 by the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6.

Here’s what Leon Draisaitl said after the defeat.

In a post-game interview, Draisaitl was kind of speechless and struggling to find the right words to express his displeasure at his team’s loss. Leon Draisaitl got very emotional, as he said, "It’s tough to find words…when you start a season, we're in it to win it and we're at that stage. If you don't complete that, then it feels like a failure or a wasted year almost. It hurts."


He added that the team "couldn't create enough 5-on-5, but we scored two 5-on-5 tonight and sometimes that's got to be enough." He took responsibility for it and said, "I have to take a lot of ownership myself. I wasn't good tonight."
