Squid Game season 2 release date, cast: Netflix reveals key details

"Squid Game" Season 2 cast has been unveiled by Netflix at Tudum in Brazil. The first season of the "Squid Game" became a smashing hit around the world.

"Squid Game" Season 1 shows Seong Gi-hun played by Lee Jung-jae was drowned in neck-deep debt. He received an invitation to participate in a competition that throws over 450 contestants into a series of children's games. There was a massive cash prize for winners. However, losers faced deadly consequences. Gi-hun participated and eventually came out alive. However, at the end of the Squid Game Season 1, Gi-hun vowed to take on the masterminds behind the cruel game.

'Squid Game' Season 2 Cast

Apart from Gi- hun, Front Man played by Lee Byung-hun, Hwang Jun-ho played by Wi Ha-jun will return. Gong Yoo, who played the role of the person who invited Gi-hun to play the game, will return for the Squid Game Season 2.


A video from "Tudum: A Global Fan Event" shows that there will be new cast members which will be played by Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun.

'Squid Game' Season 2 Release Date

Earlier at a Netflix press conference in September 2022, director Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that the second season of Squid Game will premiere on Netflix in 2024.

"Squid Game" season 1 was a phenomenon for Netflix, pulling in 1.65 billion hours of viewing in 28 days. The record-breaking viewership was followed by historical Emmy wins for the "Squid Game" cast and crew.

With 14 nominations in the Emmy, the series took home a total of six wins, including outstanding directing, production design, special visual effects, stunt performance, actress in a guest role to Lee You-mi and lead actor to Lee Jung-jae, who also became the first Asian actor ever to win in the category.
